FOOD AND BEVERAGE
CAPITAL PROJECT EXPERTS
Food and beverage manufacturing is booming. Tasked with tight budgets and aggressive delivery dates for new initiatives, project engineers and plant managers can be pressured to begin capital expenditure projects as quickly as possible. All too often this results in an unacceptable project outcome. Unfortunately, the subpar quality of work product doesn't show up until too late, when the project is already late and overbudget.
The CAP EXperts
To help clients ensure capital project success, Perry Construction Management has combined a set of best practices and proprietary tools and created the Strong Foundation Approach.
This proven process has been developed and refined over hundreds of projects establishing Perry Construction Management as The CAP EXperts: capital project experts.

KEY FACTORS FOR SUCCESS
DEFINE CLEAN
SCOPE OF WORK
Setting proper expectations for contractors and vendors up front reduces interruptions and delays.
Every project begins with a complete, clean scope of work. We get all of the players on the same page to keep the project running smoothly and without interruptions.
SET CLEAR LINES OF COMMUNICATION
Consistent communication op-timizes efficiency, particularly in a project's initial phases.
Communication lines are estab-lished to avoid misunder-standing and maintain a pro-ductive environment for contractors and staff.
DESIGN REVIEW BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Outside design engineers may not be aware of possible pitfalls within a facility.
Design plans are reviewed with staff who work in the area or with the equipment that the project will impact to identify potential flaws.
Completing a construction project on time and at budget does not happen by chance. Focusing on the key factors increases the likelihood of success for any type of project.
Before any project begins we align objectives with and capture all pertinent information from the project owner. Success criteria is established and a plan of execution, with roles and responsibilities, is documented and communicated to contractors.
When work begins, daily activities are rigorously managed and key stakeholders are kept up to speed on progress. At completion, project stakeholders receive close out reports with analysis against scope, schedule and budget, and key learning to be applied to future projects.
SCREEN AND QUALIFY CONTRACTORS
It is not uncommon to choose a contractor based simply on price to keep cost as low as possible. The contractor with the lowest fees may be under-qualified and end up costing more in the long run.
Contractors are screened for required skills and certifications. We ensure that they have relevant industry experience and are aware of any plant-specific regulations.
PROACTIVELY ENAGAGE STAKEHOLDERS
CAPEX construction projects can change on a minute-to-minute basis and no one wants to be caught by surprise when they do.
Each day we hold a meeting to review the work to be done and head off potential problems. Contractors and staff-operations, maintenance, safety, etc.,-are included. At the end of the day a progress report is shared with stakeholders.
